￼￼To develop novel bioinformatics tools for the rapid discovery, recovery and annotation of potential viral reads from metagenomics NGS data (objective 1).
In WP1 we will develop methods for processing of viral metagenome and other NGS data by sequence assembly, classification, typing and annotation of viral taxonomic units (clustered sequences that were obtained from the same viral species). These methods depend on each other: de novo assembly is the most basic task to provide comparability of data from different NGS sources and to reduce data load for other processing tasks. Discovery, classification and typing will lead to annotated viral taxonomic units as input for tools developed in WP2.
